Ashford Leisure Trust is pleased to announce exciting new sport and physical activity projects to encourage thousands more people of all ages from across Ashford and Kent to participate in Sport.

The Trust is one of only 17 Leisure Trusts in the UK to have been successfully awarded funding from the SPORTA Make your Move funding programme.

One of the projects is the Sporta Family Series which will be delivered in partnership with England Athletics locally and Great Run Local. The project will target participants who live the Stanhope ward of Ashford and who do not usually take part in more than 30 minutes of physical activity or sport a week.

Working with the Ashford Children Centres at the Ray Allen and Willow Centres the Trust will provide weekly exercise sessions to prepare participants to achieve, as a family, a 2km run by the end of an eight-week structured activity programme.  These new sessions will start in January 2016 with the weekly Great Run Local starting in the spring.

Community Development Manager Peter Le Rossignol said: The Trust is delighted to have secured funding to encourage more people from across Ashford and Kent to participate in sport and physical activity. These three projects are key to the Trust’s community participation to performance programme offering sporting and physical activity opportunities for all."
