Three new marked running routes ranging from 1km to 3km have been set up for walkers, joggers and runners to use in Kent County Council Country Parks as part of Run England’s 3-2-1 project.

3-2-1 aims to provide a range of marked out running or jogging routes across the country that anyone can have a go at and the new routes in Kent provide just that opportunity for the local community, or people travelling to the area and in need of somewhere reliable to walk, jog or run.

On Saturday, more than 20 runners from three running groups in Kent tried out the newly installed routes at Trosley Country Park in Meopham, Kent.   The beginner runners from Meopham & Malling Ladies Joggers, Paddock Wood Ladies Joggers and Tony’s Runners completed the 2km and 3km routes.

A member of Tony’s Runners, Chris, said: “I really enjoyed trying out the new routes. I’ve never been to Trosley before but it’s a great place to bring friends and family. The routes are easy to follow and surprisingly flat so perfect for the beginner runner.  I’ll definitely be coming back!”

Trosley 3-2-1 (2)Kent Running Activator Lucy Tomlinson said: “It was great to see so many people turn up and try out the new routes on Saturday. As a group leader, you’re always looking for new, safe routes to try with your running group and having the routes marked out for you already in stunning parkland is definitely a bonus.  The great thing about 3-2-1 is the routes offer something for everyone, whether you want to just get round the 1km or beat your time over the 3km distance, it’s definitely worth giving them a go.”

Also in Kent, 3-2-1 routes have been installed at Shorne Woods Country Park in Gravesend and Brockhill Country Park in Hythe. The routes are circular and suitable for people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities and also cover distances of 1km, 2km and 3km.

The organisers say that the routes are accurately measured and will be permanently marked to allow people to have a go in their own time – whether it is with a friend in the morning before work, with the family at the weekend or on an organised run in the evening with a running group – the measuring has been done and the markers are in place.
