This week sees 190 Try Athletics Events taking place across the country. The events are being hosted to mark 100 days to go until the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics and provide a chance for people to get involved in athletics.

The events are being hosted by Run England groups as well as athletics clubs across the country and will feature many different activities. Running groups are opening up their weekly running sessions to the community to encourage beginners to get involved in friendly beginner runs.

Lots of people are set to try some athletics for the first time as groups and clubs are set to build an Olympic and Paralympic legacy with 100 days to go. Click here to find an event near you!

Over and Cottenham Run4Fun group will be hosting their event tomorrow (19th April 2012) and are welcoming all abilities to come along and try some running. They signed up to host the event with 150 days to, joining plenty of other groups and clubs who are hosting the events as part of England Athletics' Are You Ready? campaign.

Alex Copeland, National Club Development Officer for England Athletics, said “It’s good to see nearly 200 events taking place across the country and hopefully they will be a real springboard for ensuring we are all ready for the opportunity the Olympics present.”

If your group is hosting a Try Athletics Event, don’t forget to let us know how it went, or even send in your "100 Days To Go" event captured in 100 seconds of video film.
