England Athletics CEO Chris Jones has recorded a special video with a review of 2016 and a look ahead to athletics and running in 2017.

2016 has been a memorable year - 50 england teams have competed at home and abroard, and our clubs have performed well on the domestic stage.  Weekly participation has continued to grow and we now have 153,000 registered athletes.  All this wouldn't be possible without our volunteers - without them our sport would be nothing.

2017 promises to be an action packed year with the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas, the  Manchester International, the inaugural Nitro series in Australia and the World and IPC champs to be hosted in London as well as all our usual championships for track and field, road, walks, mountain and cross country.

2017 will be a period of change - see our Strategic plan at www.englandathletics.org/strategy for more information.

1: To expand the capacity of the sport by supporting and developing its volunteers and other workforce
2: To sustain and increase participation and performance levels in our sport
3: To influence participation in the wider athletics market
