This week is Learning Disability Week
15 June 2015
England Athletics are working with Mencap to support National Learning Disability Week. This week is Learning Disability Week 2015 (15th - 21st June) and England Athletics are encouraging clubs, networks and running groups to get involved.
Here are some ideas of what you could do:
- Support coaches, leaders and club volunteers to increase their knowledge about working with people with a learning disability: click here for the SCUK Impairment Specific Factsheet on Learning Disability or contact your local CCSO.
- Get in touch with your local Mencap group to tell them about your club or running group, invite people along to your sessions or run a taster session at their group: www.mencap.org.uk/local-groups
- Find out more about classification of athletes with a learning disability: click here.
- Find out more about Easy Read and how you can make your information more accessible for people with a learning disability: www.mencap.org.uk/easyread
