NHS staff Get Going in Liverpool!
28 June 2014
Princes Park in Liverpool will play host to the annual NHS Games 5K event this weekend at 10am on Sunday 29 June.
The event is part of the NHS North West Games, which is a workplace competition across a number of sports which provides a great motivation to help get the workforce more active, build stronger bonds within teams as well as have some good old fashioned fun.
Last year over 160 members of the NHS North West team raced over the 5K distance to see who would be crowned NHS Games 5K Champion! This year the event organisers are hoping for similar success if not to surpass this as they have teamed up with England Athletics GetGoing! project in Liverpool to help support runners in the lead up to the event and beyond.
The runners will be helped along their way by the new Run England 3-2-1 route markers which make up the city’s first 3-2-1 route, set up by the NHS Public Health, Friends of Princess Park and England Athletics.
Craig Blain, GetGoing! Activator for Liverpool, said: “The park is obviously a great place to run and attracts a lot of activity for the sport playing host to this year’s 5K event, a GetGoing! group and a parkrun. Holding events like this in the park spaces helps to promote the informal facility the route provides as well as the safe and welcoming park environment the park provides, ideal for families to enjoy.”
Why not coming along and cheer on the competitors and even do a run around the route yourself! We’d love to see you there!
