Manchester 3-2-1 Routes take national total over 200


New marked running routes set up in Manchester have brought the total number of 3-2-1 Routes across England to more than 200 mark.

There are 209 in total, including routes across 15 parks within the City of Manchester, including Heaton Park, Boggart Hole Clough, Queens Park, Philips Park, Brookdale Park, Debdale Park, Birchfields Park, Platt Fields, Alexandra Park, Highfield Country Park, Fog Lane Park, Chorlton Park, Fletcher Moss Park, and Wythenshawe Park. With routes of varying distances and terrain there is something to suit all abilities within a safe and accessible environment at any time of day.

Manchester City Council, who manages the parks, agreed to set up the new routes as an incentive to get more people running in such picturesque settings, such as Chorlton Park – a very popular location with the local community and favourite amongst local runners. Run England Group and recently affiliated England Athletics Club Chorlton Runners regularly use the park for their runs and now make use of the new routes to give their sessions an added dimension. The new routes have also proved popular amongst race organisers who are looking at incorporating the routes within their events. 

Liam Browne, the Activator for Manchester said: “It’s great to finally have the new 3-2-1 routes within Chorlton Water Park – as well as all the other venues across Manchester. The new routes will hopefully inspire people to give running a go!”
