Leader Workshops support running groups in South Yorkshire
17 October 2014
A Running Technique Workshop for South Yorkshire Run Leaders took place in September that focused on giving leaders tips and drills to encourage correct running form. The workshop was delivered by the local Accelerate Performance Centre in Sheffield and saw 15 Leaders across six different running groups take part.
The workshop is part of a series, organised by Emma Hurst CCSO for South Yorkshire. Emma has worked closely with Stuart Hale and Colin Papworth from Accelerate Performance Centre to ensure the series provides Run Leaders with practical information that they can use in their groups.
Emma said: “It’s important to support our current run leaders as they are the ones who are inspiring people to run”.
The Workshop was rated 10/10 from the Run Leaders and here's a few comments:
"I enjoyed meeting people, sharing stories and putting names to faces. I particularly liked experiencing different running styles and identifying how to make improvement. We are looking to incorporating drills into our warm ups and our full session" - Barnsley Harriers
"Everything is explained in easy to understand way, with plenty of tips as to how we can build into our sessions" - Valley Hill Runners
"We plan to deliver running technique sessions once a month to our beginners sessions" - Handworth Roadhogs
The next workshops are on 14 November and 5 December and again take place at Accelerate Performance Centre, Sheffield. For more information check out the posters below or contact Emma Hurst on ehurst@englandathletics.org or 07921060306.
