Holly Hill groups smile their way into autumn sessions

Members of the Holly Hill running groups in Southampton recently took to a local sports field with smiles beaming for a running session with a difference...

The runners met in the sunshine to kick off their autumn sessions with some running related games and exercises, but they were greeted with a unique twist to the proceedings.

Their gentle activity was combined with a photo shoot courtesy of amateur photographer Helen Geering who took some great snaps of the group - a great way to document their hard work and share their efforts with friends. Who knows, maybe some of them will be inspired to take up running too!

Group leader Katharine Jones leads the groups with the help of husband Sean, who is also a qualified group leader, allowing them to split the evening groups to deal with a wide variety of abilities at the same session.

The Holly Hill groups are just embarking on their autumn sessions, with a series of groups set up, open to everyone from complete beginners to those aiming to get fit for the Bupa Great South Run on 27 October - when 21,000 runners will take to the streets of Portsmouth on a course which takes in some of the city's naval heritage, including HMS Victory and the Mary Rose.

Katharine says on her website: "Our main aim is to keep the groups fun and welcoming, and encourage more people to get fit by running."

Good luck to all at the Holly Hill groups on the latest running course over the next 10 weeks and to those running the Bupa Great South Run! Find out more about Katharine and her running groups at runwithkatharine.com.
