A workshop for group leaders set up as part of the Reactivate Bucks programme with support from Run England recently was a great success with 30 attendees and lots of positive feedback.

The workshop was free to attend and designed to give group leaders a helping hand in running their groups – and was the second such workshop to be popular with group leaders recently, following on from the success of a recent Run Kent Project workshop.

Set up by BucksSport, the workshop had a packed agenda, covering: naked foot fitness & injury prevention; simple steps to setting up a group; bridging the gap between leadership and coaching; a Q&A with an experienced group leader; and marketing and promotion – which included tips on how to use new media to promote running groups, and featured the video below which feature’s Harri’s running team based in Marlow, Bucks.

There were presentations from three group leaders, including Martin Lawrence who talked about his fantastic group David Lloyd Redway Runners, Simon Read who talked about the workplace group he set up at Scania and Helen Hinde who talked about the great community group she has set up in Hughendon.

Physical Activity Development Officer at BucksSport Abbi McKane said: “It was a really good evening and the feedback we’ve received so far has been really positive which is great. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the evening!”
