Wiltshire running groups project honoured at Awards
20 March 2013
A Wiltshire running groups project has been recognised at the recent Wiltshire Health Improvement Awards.
Run England works closely with partners across the country to get more people into running through the provision of running groups led by qualified group leaders.
In the fifth year of the awards – which are an opportunity to say thank you for the efforts made in the county and to celebrate contributions by people and projects – the Wiltshire project came out on top in the physical activity category against 14 other nominations!
The project was nominated as a partnership project addressing physical inactivity by bringing people into running to improve health, well being and fitness, by Wiltshire council sports and physical activity team.
There were a range of award categories from physical activity in children, young people and adults, to innovation and outstanding contribution awards.
Run England Area Coordinator for the Midlands and South West Charlotte Fisher said: “Well done to Sarah [Sims – Run England Local Activator for Wiltshire and Swindon] and everyone involved in Wiltshire’s registered running groups – particularly our group leaders whose dedicated efforts and enthusiasm are helping to get Wiltshire running!”
