Lee Valley White Water Centre made history and became the first London 2012 venue to open after the Games, and now you can enjoy this iconic venue by beginning running there!

Just North of the M25 near Waltham Abbey and featuring scenic, flat country park routes, the venue is ideal for beginners.

Group leader David Chalfen is a highly experienced Level 4 Endurance Coach with an extensive coaching background from absolute novice up to international level. He is an Area Coach Mentor in Endurance for England Athletics and his book Improving Your Marathon and Half Marathon Running was published by leading independent publisher Crowood in September 2012.

Paul, one regular attendee of David’s running group from the Lee Valley White Water Centre, which sets of every Thursday at 10am, said: “I have turned up to a beginners class run from the Lee Valley White Water Centre and would like to recommend the sessions to others. Free high quality coaching is not to be missed. If more people access the post-Olympic venues, they will become embedded community resources and will be harnessed for the future. The training on offer and the green spaces are not to be missed!”

Kirsty Aitken, Activator for Herts, said: “The White Water Centre is such an exciting venue to run from! The centre is in an ideal location to run in the Lee Valley Park through the acres of wildlife stretching up and down the river. It is also the ultimate place to grab a coffee with friends after the run to watch rafters and kayakers on the Olympic Course.”
