Great opportunity for Run England Leaders

  

England Athletics' national coaching conferences this year all include sessions specifically designed for Run Leaders. With the deadline approaching sign up quickly to make the most of the workshops and opportunity to meet other Run Leaders as well as the Run England team.

With the booking deadline of 14th September rapidly approaching and almost 350 coaches having already booked a place, leaders are encouraged to secure their place quickly to avoid disappointment.

The three Conferences, one in each of the North, Midlands and South, will all include workshops specifically aimed at Run Leaders, particularly those with the LiRF qualification. These workshops will give leaders the opportunity to share best practice and learn from fellow leaders alongside giving advice on managing their group and providing sessions to challenge runners of all abilities. Conferences will also provide valuable links to the coaching community and give leaders an understanding of the potential coach education and development pathways available to them.

Our Run England team will be present to offer guidance and advice and the coaching marketplace will provide information and demonstrations from a number of organisations to further support coaches and run leaders e.g. Polar, and Lucozade Sport Science Academy.

The events which have always been enthusiastically received by attendees will be held as follows:

• North: Leeds Metropolitan University on 29th September
• Midlands and South West: Birmingham High Performance Centre on 30th September
• South: Lee Valley Athletics Centre on 29th September
   

Run England Area Coordinator for the Midland and South West Charlotte Fisher, highlighted that, "Whether you are a Run England group leader or a leader in a club this year’s coaching conference will be a great opportunity to find out more about how you can attract new runners, increase participation and progress runners from group to club by developing your skills as a leader. We hope to see you there."

And a reminder to all leaders...

Run England now has new resources to help you manage your group.

Thanks to funding from Sport England our new Group Finder map will allow leaders to not only manage the information on their group more easily but to also have a secure online register of their group members to know who their members are and which sessions they have attended. This adds a good way of ensuring your group members are signed up as members of Run England and enjoying the associated member benefits. It also gives you a way of keeping track of your group register. Run England is planning some prizes and rewards for group leaders who have members registered and showing regular group activity.

Ensuring you have an accurate record of your members runs is an important part of being a group leader both in terms of managing your members' training effectively and having accurate records in the unlikely event something does go wrong.
