Run to give for those who gave

Next month sees the first in a series of runs to raise money and 'run to give for those who gave'.

The Poppy Run is a series of fun runs throughout the country all starting at the same time on the same day – 30th October 2011 at 11am to be precise – and are all endorsed by the British Legion.

Run England has teamed up with The Poppy Run in Leicestershire to make sure that those who take part in the run at Ashby de la Zouch to help those taking part continue with their running in fun and supportive groups.

There are around eight runs planned for this year and national coordinator Jim Cowan is hoping for this to grow to more than one hundred runs by 2015.

Jim said: "The Leicestershire Poppy Run is a great way to not only raise money for a great cause but to get and keep fit along the way."

Run England Activator for Leicestershire John Skevington, who will be helping those who wish to join new running groups, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for two organisations to come together and promote running as a great way of keeping fit.

"Hopefully those who have taken part to raise money for such a great cause will become part of our Run England groups and continue running in the future and be ready for the challenge again at next year’s Poppy Run."
