Organisers of the RunLiverpool Marathon 2012 are looking for committed group leaders to lead a number of running groups geared around training for this year’s event.

RunLiverpool are looking to assist around 100-150 runners with their weekly long runs every Sunday morning for the 20 weeks leading up to the marathon which takes place on Sunday 14 October 2012.

The coaching groups, which will be registered with Run England (and you will be able to find them on our group finder map), will take place at various locations along the course, starting the warm ups from 9.30am and beginning each run at 10am. They will start in Birkenhead Park and then move every few weeks to the next section of the marathon course. Subject to demand, there could be as many as 14 groups in total based on running at a variety of goal paces down to those aiming for around five hours and 30 minutes.

Within each of the 14 pace groups, RunLiverpool are looking for: Pace Leader (LiRF, CiRF or UKA Level 2 Endurance qualified – minimum); Assistant Pace Leader (LiRF or UKA Level 1 or Coaching Assistant qualified – preferable); Reserve Pace Leader (LiRF, CiRF or UKA Level 2 Endurance qualified – preferable). These personnel may also act as the 2012 RunLiverpool Marathon Coaching Group Pace Team on race day.

If you currently lead a running group geared around training for the RunLiverpool Marathon, get involved to recruit more members, promote your group, generate revenue for your group, get free places at 2012 RunLiverpool Events and gain valuable coaching qualifications and experience.

Members of the RunLiverpool 2012 Coaching Team will receive an array of benefits and freebees including entry to RunLiverpool 2012 events, official Coaching/Pace Team technical running kit and access to exclusive coaching/training materials and events.

The first launch group meeting will be the 27th May 2012, with the first group run the week after. For more info on these great opportunities, please contact Richard Othen at richard.othen@runliverpoolmarathon.co.uk.

All leaders will need to hold a current CRB certification along with a valid UKA license at the time of the training groups and on October 14th 2012. Due to the time constraints you will need to start the CRB application process as soon as possible. Once a CRB application has been submitted you will be able to get involved in the coaching program whilst you are gaining your qualification but will not be able to lead a group. If you don’t currently hold any of these qualifications but are experienced and/or would like to be considered, then also contact Richard Othen. Group leaders will need to commit to a minimum of 16 weeks out of the 20.
