The "Run Rogers Run" Challenge

Stuart Rogers is a beginner runner and Run England member who is using running to overcome personal difficulties and raise money for a worthy cause. Here he tells his story.

My story

In February 2012, a week before we were due to have our 12 week scan, we learned that we had lost our new baby at eight weeks.

Although a desperately sad time, we remained strong and positive. We feel very lucky to have the support of some wonderful friends and family and we keep smiling for our amazing son.

I personally wanted to do something special in memory of the new baby we lost whilst also raising money for a worthwhile charity, Tommy’s that supports people who find themselves in a similar position to ourselves.

Currently 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in a loss. Tommy’s believes every parent has the right to a healthy pregnancy and baby and its target is to halve the number of babies that die during pregnancy or birth by 2030.

What am I doing?

Tommy’s desperately requires funding to provide support to parents and research to reduce pregnancy loss.

Although a recent beginner to running, I will be representing Tommy’s, the baby charity with the awesome challenge of the:

  • Bupa Great North Run in September 2012
  • Virgin London Marathon in April 2013
  • Covering approx. 1300 training miles

All of my training and progress will be tracked through my website: www.runrogersrun.wordpress.com.

My overall funding target is £3000!
