Handsworth community and well-being event

Runners of all ages took part in 5k and 10k fun runs at Handsworth Park in Birmingham recently – with many signing up to join Run England after completing the event.

The fun runs were the first activity of the day at the Community Health and Well Being Event organised by the Nishkam Centre in Handsworth and Sporting Equals who promote ethnic diversity across sport and physical activity across the country.

Multi faith prayers with musical accompaniments preceded the start of the race which saw men, women and children of all ages setting off on the undulating route around the lake. It was a great social event with groups of runners clearly having plenty of fun whilst they exercised as they made their way around the course.

By joining Run England the runners will be able to continue their running with the added support and encouragement of the Run England community – running with a group can be a great motivation for running more regularly.

There are Run England groups all over the country who are looking for more members. Click here to join Run England online and visit our group finder map to find your local running group.
