Getting Ashford active!
15 November 2011
Ashford Leisure Trust has started two walking and jogging groups aimed at getting more people in the Ashford area fit and active.
Walking and jogging is a great form of exercise that can be fun and sociable as well as one of the best in terms of developing fitness levels.
The sessions are being led by Run England group leader Fiona Sime who has introduced the participants to a range of warm up activities and drills, a basic walking/running session and a cool down. The first session held at The Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford, Kent was a great success with nine people attending.
Fiona said: “It was great to have so many people attend our first session. I enjoyed delivering the session. It is a great way to get fit and active as well meeting new people.”
The sessions are every Monday at The Julie Rose Stadium from 10.45am to 11.30am and Tuesdays at Kingsnorth Recreation Centre from 12.00pm to 12.45pm, and cost £2.50 per session with the first session being free.
The group is linked to Ashford Athletic Club and participants will be given information and vouchers to join the club if they wish. In addition, each participant will receive a free sports water bottle after attending three sessions as an added incentive!
