Leigh Woods - Blue Route

Leigh Woods, Valley Road, Bristol, Avon, BS8 3PZ

DIRECTIONS TO THE START POINT

Running distance: 4 km

About this run route

Start / Finish

Start at the National Trust hut at the entrance from Valley Road

The route is marked with blue Sustrans cyling markers.

It is an out and back run. Much of the route is flat and undulating on even paths. However there is a steep downhill descent on more rugged uneven paths taking you down to the River Avon at the furthest part of the course, before turning back and retracing your steps back up the hill. The route is more suitable for improvers and those wanting a bit more of a challenge than the beginner runner, but the view of the river from the bottom of the hill is well worth the effort and there are flat paths along the river to enjoy once you get down there to increase your distance.

The woodland route is an attractive place to run, offering protection from the wind and the rain in bad weather and respite from the warmer temperatures and the sun during the summer.

Please be aware of aware of bikes travelling at speed throughout the woodland.

Please report any accidents to the Forestry Commission.

Please note:

The layout and usage of the marked 3-2-1 running routes is the responsibility of the local authority or further education establishment that purchases the route marking signs and usual health and safety and duty of care considerations should be followed in laying out open, even-surfaced, easy-to-follow, safe, accurate, well lit routes at all times - with the landowner’s permission. RunTogether will not provide materials with which to attach the markers.
