Inspirational runners Paul and Chris

Group Leader, Julie Pegoaro contacted us to tell us about RunTogether Verwood Runners' recent 5th Birthday celebrations and shared some stories of their inspirational runners Paul and Chris!

Here at Verwood Runners we'd like to share what we feel as a group is a remarkable achievement by one of our runners. Paul Lambert suffered a series of strokes last year and thought he would never be able to achieve a 5k again. Well he has, Paul completed alongside several VR's 5k at the resolution run on Sunday 10th March 2019.

"Paul since his strokes has showed such strength, courage and fighting spirit. The Verwood Runners have supported him every step of the way from fundraising to including him in everything we do. He's our number one hero. Paul supports us tenfold, he comes to parkrun and cheers us on, often comes to events to cheer us home. He comes to all the events we host such as socials and Birthday celebrations and even though he's not running he's there supporting and cheering us on.We feel this is a fantastic achievement and we are so proud of him and glad he's part of our VR family."

However Paul isn't the only achievement we'd like to celebrate with you.  Fellow runner Chris Shearing and one of Verwood Runners RL's suffered a heart attack on Christmas Day and he too with support of the group completed 5k at the resolution run.  Yet another truly remarkable achievement.

"Chris has attended most nights since his attack (once able) and supported the group by marshalling and cycling and making sure everyone is ok. It was lovely to see him out running again."
