Supporting women in coaching – Pledge To Parity

International Women’s Day takes place on 8 March 2016. As part of the ‘Pledge for Parity’ initiative of International Women’s Day, England Athletics have specific events to help support women in coaching and group leadership.

You can also find out more about just some of the women making a difference to the sport through their coaching.

Do you feel inspired to get involved at your local club and develop your coaching skills?

Are you similar to Ruth? Ruth Worthington a mum, was asked by her club to help out, she wasn’t sure what she could do, and was a little nervous, but stepped forward and began helping out, mostly crowd control and shoelace tying at first. But with encouragement from coaches and the club she soon became more involved and qualified as a Coaching Assistant and discovered a whole network of support through England Athletics.

Across the country a number of open sessions with leading female coaches from the National Coaching Development programme and female-only workshops have been set up to take place from Sunday 6th March to Sunday 13th March. There will be an opportunity to observe coaches, gain new ideas, build confidence and build a network with like minded females.
