New Year starts here with Walk 2 Jog in York!
11 February 2016
City of York Council Sport and Active Leisure in partnership England Athletics are launching an number of new Walk 2 Jog sessions in different locations across the city. These include Fulford Community Centre, Vanguard Shopping Complex (near M&S supermarket entrance), Acomb and Rowntree Park.
CYC’s Sport Development Officer explains what the course is about: “Week 1 will consist of a moderately paced walk along one of the programme's 3.5km (2 miles) routes. By Week 10 you will be able to jog 5km (3.2 miles) without the need for rest. The great thing about this course is that no matter where you are starting from you will not get left behind. For the more advanced in the group our highly qualified Run Leaders have a range of methods to keep you challenged."
England Athletics Club and Coach Support Officer Nick Settle explains the partnership, “We are excited to be part of this brilliant initiative being delivered by the Sport and Active Leisure team and feel the programme will help get more people active through running. We see this project perfectly matches one of our values inclusivity."
The first three courses start on the following dates,
- Monday 29 February (Fulford)
- Wednesday 9 March (Vanguard)
- Tuesday 15 March (Rowntree Park)
Courses Cost £10 for 10 weeks, you will receive a free t-shirt and a £15 voucher code for Sweatshop on your first pair of trainers.
