Challenge a friend and keep your #runningresolution in 2014

If you've made a #runningresolution for 2014, one way to make sure you keep it for the whole year is to join forces with a friend who has similar goals!

If you already run, encouraging a friend to make a #runningresolution with you or inviting them along to your running group, will help you with your challenge for 2014 - whether it's targeting an event or simply running more.

Perhaps you and a friend don't run at all, but would like to improve your health and fitness in the new year? It's much easier to stick to a resolution when you have a running buddy with you every step of the way. You could also make a promise join your local running group together, which may be less daunting than going on your own - although all our running groups are friendly and welcoming to beginners!

Run England groups are all led by qualified and insured group leaders and welcome people looking to take those first steps into improving their health and fitness in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment - or those who have had a break from running due to injury or any other reason - and would like to get back into it.

There are more than 2,000 running groups across the country, so if you know someone who's ready to make a #runningresolution and achieve stick to their health and fitness goals in 2014, why not bring them along to your running group or direct them to www.runengland.org/groups to find a registered running group.

Challenging a friend to join your group or start running with you will help you motivate each other to achieve your goals together. You could even challenge a few friends and set up your own running group at your work, where you study, through your local athletics club, or elsewhere in your community.
