Congratulations to four time Olympian Joanne Pavey and her husband and coach Gavin, who are expecting their second child in September.

The distance runner tweeted on Thursday morning: "Very happy to let you know that we are expecting our second child in September. Really pleased and excited!! xx"

Jo finished seventh in both the 5,000m and 10,000m at London 2012 and finished the year as Europe's fastest woman over 10,000m.

The news means she'll miss the IAAF World Championships in Moscow later this year, where she would have been hoping to improve on her fourth place in the 10,000m at Osaka 2007.

The 39-year-old Exeter Harrier may now aim to win a medal at the European Championships in 2014 before hoping to make an incredible fifth Olympic team at Rio 2016.

Jo told Athletics Weekly: “We are so thrilled and happy. It’s going to be so lovely to have a little brother or sister for Jacob.”

She also had some words which may ring true for any other runners or joggers out there who may also be expecting: “Having Jacob has boosted my motivation and underpins my continued enjoyment of the sport. He really has helped to give me a balanced life.”
