The Isle of Wight may cover an area of just 148 square miles, but it is home to no fewer than 13 new 3-2-1 running routes, giving visitors and locals alike plenty of reasons to lace up those running shoes and explore the island!

3-2-1 is Run England's project which aims to provide a range of marked out running or jogging routes across the country that anyone can have a go at.

Isle of Wight Council sports development unit this year supported 20 people in becoming running group leaders through England Athletics' Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course.

3-2-1 was identified as the ideal project to help support these new group leaders in developing their running groups, by providing safe places for them to deliver their sessions.

The routes were set up at local running spots across the island that were recommended by existing clubs and groups as well as safe and suitable for everyone to use.

Head over to runengland.org/routes where you can search for all Isle of Wight's new routes as well as more than 122 running routes nation-wide.
