New running group for beginners in Hampshire

A new running group for complete beginners is starting up in Winchester, Hampshire, and could be the perfect option for any locals with a New Year’s resolution to get fit and have fun!

Calum Drummond is an experienced running group leader (the picture above is of a group he set up last year) and also deals with getting people active in his day job too - as Assistant Sports Development Officer at Winchester City Council.

He has set up the group to encourage more people to start running and run regularly, regardless of age, fitness level and ability. He has been running himself for the last five years and would like to share this with others, offering any support he can to help people achieve their own goals.

The group is aimed at beginners who would like to run for their own enjoyment or to work towards their own personal goals. The group gives people the opportunity to meet new friends, discover running routes as well as working on and improving running technique.

There are two leaders on hand to offer support and advice throughout the sessions and runners are encouraged to work at their own pace without any pressure to keep up with the group.

The group meets for an hour from 6.30pm on Thursdays at Riverpark Leisure Centre, Gordon Road, Winchester, SO23 7DD and if you’re interested in joining, contact Calum on cdrummond@winchester.gov.uk or 01962 848329.
