This year's Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon will once again include the Mini Marathon and Schools Challenge, alongside the main Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham on Sunday 30 September 2012.

The Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon takes place on an entirely new flat and fast and scenic route through city, university and along the River Trent. It's an ideal course for beginners and faster runners looking for a PB.

And this year the event is once again accompanied by the Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon which encourages people to run, walk or jog a 1.5 mile course, giving everyone the opportunity to be part of race day and experience the buzz of taking part in a mass participation event.

Open to runners of all ages and abilities, the Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon starts at 9.50 am at Victoria Embankment. The entry fee for the Ikano Mini Marathon is just £6.75 and includes a T-shirt.

A new, more scenic route has been confirmed for 2012 and the run will be chip timed, which not only brings an edge of competitiveness to the fun run but also means that the runners get an accurate finish time. Every participant will also have access to race day photographs, receive a medal and be able to download a finisher’s certificate as a record of their achievements.

The Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon will also feature the Schools Challenge, which is open to all schools in the surrounding area. Prizes will be awarded to the winning schools in various age categories.

All children of school age who enter the Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon are automatically entered into the Schools Challenge, with the aim of encouraging children of all ages to be active and get involved.

Age categories are U15, U13, U11, U9 and U7 for boys and girls, with the fastest three girls and boys winning prizes for their schools, including vouchers for sports equipment.

Please email schoolschallenge@sweatshop.co.uk if you want to get involved and we’ll send you an entry form. Places for the Schools Challenge are available at a subsidised entry fee of £4 per child.

Vivienne Saunders, Communications Manager at Ikano Financial Services, said: “The Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon and the Schools Challenge offer everyone a chance to get involved in what is shaping up to be a fantastic day. You don’t even have to run the full mile, it really is the taking part that counts. We actively encourage everyone to put their running shoes on and get involved.”
