County Durham runners do Sport Relief
31 March 2012
Members from local running groups in County Durham made the most of the hot weather to complete the Sport Relief mile last weekend.
Runners from Consett, Bishop, Teesdale and Hunwick put on their trainers and sunglasses to run either 1, 3 or 6 miles to raise money for this fantastic event.
For many it was their first race and all enjoyed the day. Teesdale group leader Vic Lee also helped organise the Teesdale event and spent the morning cheering the girls on.
Sarah Beadle, Run England Activator for County Durham, said: “It’s great to see so many of the groups now having the confidence to enter races especially when some members have only been running a few months, it helps them to feel a great sense of achievement”.
