The Sheffield Varsity 10k is the first time that students, staff and alumni from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University are going head to head over 10,000m, but the event isn’t just open to university participants.

There are two Universities in Sheffield and on Sunday 25th March 2012 there will be just one winner! Run England members and groups will be taking part, including the Sheffield-based Strideout running group. If you fancy a run-out and live in South Yorkshire, why not lace up your trainers and get involved!

The 10km race starts at the Don Valley Stadium and runners will complete a three lap route twisting in and around the world class facility which pays host to other events such as the Sheffield Half Marathon and is the training facility for 2009 World Champion athlete Jessica Ennis.

The race will be supporting St Luke’s Hospice and at least £3 from each entry plus 100% of all profits from the race will go directly to the hospice to help towards the £4 million it needs each year just to keep supporting people with incurable illnesses in Sheffield.

For more information and to enter the race visit the website at www.sheffieldvarsity10k.co.uk.

Get your trainers on, raise money for a fantastic Sheffield charity and, if you do side with a university, make sure that yours wins!
