Paskar Owor, a former Olympian, member of Belgrave Harriers and Sport Science student at Roehampton University is launching a new beginners running group on behalf of Belgrave Harriers.

The group will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 7pm, meeting and finishing at Belgrave Harriers clubhouse, Belgrave Hall in Merton. Merton Hall has changing rooms and showers for runners to use after the sessions.

The group is inclusive to all no matter what level of running experience you have (if any!).

Paskar said: “I am delighted for this group to be launched that will undoubtedly help everyone to not only get fit but to enhance people’s lifestyles. Sport and running is good for everyone in all walks of life, backgrounds, and aspirations.

“I am keen to actively engage the community of Merton in running after such an incredible Olympic Games in London – using the Olympic legacy to bring everyone together to enjoy the benefits of running.

“I have competed in two Olympic Games representing Uganda in Sydney in 2000 and Athens in 2004 and am still actively running and inspired by the sport. I hope to pass on the experiences from the Games to help inspire people in the community. I look forward to helping you all get fit and healthy!”

Jake Waldron, Run England Activator for South West London, supported Paskar in launching the group. For more information and enquiries on joining the group please contact Jake at jwaldron@englandathletics.org or on 07540 704 347.
