Beginners' running group set up in Manchester
02 September 2011
A new running group for beginners has been set up at Heaton Park in Manchester.
The group has been set up by dedicated volunteer Paul Simons, who has recently gained his Leadership in Running Fitness qualification and wants to share his passion for running with others.
Liam Browne, the Run England Activator for Manchester, will also assist in leading the group, which will meet at the Lakeside Car Park on Sheepfoot Lane every Monday at 6pm.
The first run will take place on 12 September and sessions are aimed at all ability levels and will be fantastic training in preparation for the Heaton Parkrun, which is a free 5k run held every Saturday at 9am.
He said: “With the success of the Parkrun at Heaton Park, it shows there is definitely a huge interest in running in the area. This new group will give runners the opportunity to do more training for the Parkrun and hopefully improve their fitness in the future.”
