Three new running groups set up in Sheffield
15 July 2011
Sheffield Running Club has teamed up with Run England to set up three running groups in Sheffield.
Whether you are building up to do your first race or just want to improve your fitness these fun, friendly groups - aimed at complete beginners - are a great place to get started.
The Group Leaders, who are all members of Sheffield Running Club, are very keen to get as many people as possible in the groups, and have a huge amount of running knowledge and experience to support and encourage new runners.
Sheffield Running Club has a blend of experienced and new members and welcomes anyone to join. The club has had success in the past with a training group for the Sheffield Half Marathon - providing training, advice and encouragement to many novice runners - so the new Run England groups should be popular.
The club offers training and racing opportunities for those more experienced, as well as a good social scene for everyone with curry nights, weekends away, post-run buffet meals in country pubs and more.
Last week the club held a paced mile time trial on the track at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield. Fifty-one people have now run the paced mile on the track since the first event was held in 2009.
Use the Group Finder map to find out more about the new groups, which will be running from Graves Park, Don Valley Stadium and Ponds Forge Leisure Centre.
