DVC Sports at Dearne Valley College, Rotherham, has got in on the action with Run England by launching running groups for members of the college and local community.

Working in conjunction with Run England, the Wath based sports centre is encouraging participants to get running.

Run England is the official England Athletics recreational running project which aims to get the whole nation to participate in running activities. Regardless of age, fitness level, aspiration, background, or location members can be a part of Run England and benefit from being a part of England's running community. They help and encourage more people to run, and to run more often.

Shaun Woodward, DVC Sports Business and Partnership Development Officer commented: “We would encourage anyone interested in running to sign up to the scheme to join like minded individuals wanting to enjoy the outdoors whilst getting fit. Although the club is in its infancy we have many activities planned for the future”.

Emma Slater-Clayton, Run England Local Activator commented: “The Run England project is helping those who have little confidence and experience of running to get started on the pathway to improving their fitness.  It is great that we have teamed up with DVC in order to provide a club that will be accessible to both students and members of the community who want to run in a friendly, non competitive environment”.

Signing up to the scheme is totally free and anyone wanting to sign up to the scheme is asked to call the sports centre on 01709 513315.
