Route 1 is a challenging 1.1 mile loop within the country park and along off road paths of a varied and undulating nature. The paths throughout the route consist of a gravel, loose surface with wooded sections where tree roots run along the paths. There is a steep section of steps at the far side of the route which is challenging and beginners are advised to walk up this section. The route in not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs and there are sections that involve running over narrow bridges and narrow sections of paths with which participants must take care along.

The route starts of in the bottom section of the country park and starts with a short downhill section, followed immediately by an uphill section of steps. The track bears right along a narrow gravel path and through a style leading along the left hand side of Millbrook Dam, again along a narrow section of gravel path. The route then drops down over a narrow wooden bridge with a sharp left turn and over a narrow plank onto another narrow section of gravel and wooded path that runs alongside the stream on the left. At the end of the path, the route bears right and drops downhill which can get muddy and over a narrow wooden bridge with steps and then baring left on to another wooden bridge that leads up to a very steep uphill section of steps. At the top of the hill the route bares left and the path opens out to a wide gravel surface and then will veer right, then left again leading eventually to a right turn dropping down a steep path and back to the start/finish.
