About this run route
Start / Finish
By the side of the Visitors Centre – entrance on Millgate Lane
The Fletcher Moss Park 3-2-1 route comprises of three separate, marked and enjoyable routes of varying distances. All routes are mainly flat and involve a variety of terrain, some of which is liable to flooding and becoming muddy. There is a kissing gate about 400m from the start for routes 1 and 2 as the route goes out and back into the park, however this can be avoided by taking the grass path that runs inside the park. There is also a narrow wooden bridge section with some steps at the end of all 3 routes which may not be suitable for push chairs. Route 2 and 3 do have remote/secluded sections around Millgate Fields and Old Bedians RUFC, so running with a friend would be recommended. The park has very limited parking with the best place to park on Stenner Lane, which also has a pay and display car park.
Route 3 is a challenging 5km course using very much the same paths as in route 1 and 2. The route just extends near the start past Didsbury Rugby Club on a concrete path and comes out on the banks of the River Mersey running along narrow compact paths and then joins route 2 around the secluded section of Millgate Fields. The route then does a clockwise loop around Stenner Woods which involves running along a dirt track which can get muddy before joining route 1 and 2 again along the wooden bridge and back to the finish. This route is suitable for the seasoned runner and would be a good challenge for the beginner after having mastered routes 1 and 2!
Please note:
The layout and usage of the marked 3-2-1 running routes is the responsibility of the local authority or further education establishment that purchases the route marking signs and usual health and safety and duty of care considerations should be followed in laying out open, even-surfaced, easy-to-follow, safe, accurate, well lit routes at all times - with the landowner’s permission.
