About this run route

Start / Finish

Dunstan Steads

A beautiful route along National Trust coastal pathways and over farmland in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Park at the road end at Dunstan Steads and start your run as you go through the gate and turn right towards Dunstanburgh castle.
The route is clearly marked out with Run England way markers.
You will run alongside  a Golf course towards the iconic Dunstanburgh castle. You then run below the castle before heading off to the right in the direction of Craster. The run takes you diagonally up a hill through grazing livestock to a stile at the top of the hill. Be sure to look back here. The view is simply stunning with Dunstanburgh castle on your left, the most amazing coastline in front of you and the village of Craster over to your right.
The route then continues through farmland until you reach an old concrete road where you turn right and run back to Dunstan Steads.
The route is not suitable for wheelchairs and most pushchairs. There are cattlegrids, gates and stiles along the way and with grazing livestock the surfaces can be uneven and muddy.
The route is only suitable for running in daylight as there is no streetlighting

Please note:

The layout and usage of the marked 3-2-1 running routes is the responsibility of the local authority or further education establishment that purchases the route marking signs and usual health and safety and duty of care considerations should be followed in laying out open, even-surfaced, easy-to-follow, safe, accurate, well lit routes at all times - with the landowner’s permission. RunTogether will not provide materials with which to attach the markers.
