Reaching goals and raising money with RunTogether

Charlie Degale Race For Life

This time of year you don’t have to look too far to find a race local to you. Whether you are wanting to run a 10k race to improve your time or a local fun run to raise some money for charity, the summer is full of opportunities for all types of runners.

We recently spoke to Run Leader Charlie Degale from Run As One who has recently supported his RunTogether runners to take on their first local Race For Life.

For people new to running, 5k can be seen as the target when starting out and in the UK especially we are lucky to have weekly parkruns and friendly 5ks to aim for. For Charlie’s runners, the Battersea Race For Life has been their goal race.

“For most of my runners it was their first ever running event and they all did incredibly and finished the race. It has been a long journey for most to get to a level of fitness to complete the race, but it was a magnificent achievement for them all.

“Not only did they complete the distance, but the seven runners also raised a staggering £700 for Cancer Research!

“As their Run Leader, I am so proud of them, it took a lot of motivation to inspire them and give them confidence to believe that they could participate and achieve. To see their reactions when they crossed the line was priceless and so rewarding!”

Here at RunTogether HQ, we would like to congratulate all of the runners at Run As One who took part in the Race For Life, and also to wish a huge good luck to any RunTogether runners who are taking on their own challenges this summer!
