RunTogether celebrates 100,000 runners

RunTogether believes running or jogging is for everyone and is most fun when shared with others. So we couldn’t be more proud to announce that the RunTogether community now has over 100,000 runners.

In little over two years since RunTogether was launched, the programme has grown in numbers and has developed to support: #RunAndTalk, #RunAndRevise and Find A Guide.

From everyone at RunTogether and England Athletics, thank you! You’ve helped us reach this milestone and spread the word that running together is available to all and beneficial to many.

Using positive language to engage more disabled runners in your group.

Psychological barriers are the most significant in preventing disabled people from being active. Language, and incorrect terminology can act as a barrier when it is negative and misrepresents disabled people and their lives. By using positive language and terminology you will be able to attract more disabled people to your group and hopefully encourage more to be active for life. The Activity Alliance have created a fact sheet with useful tips and guidance on how to do this.

DW Fitness First Group of the Month: RunTogether Earlswood Running Club

Last month we told you what your group could do to be in with the chance of winning the GOTM title! We have received so many great nominations and it is proving ever harder to select a winner each month.

Our worthy winners this month are RunTogether Earlswood Running Club!

The Club has been going for just under a year and has thrived under the leadership of Kate Holah. "The Club has quite literally changed the lives of so many of our members" as described by runner  Shaleen.

Shaleen joined the group after suffering from depression and has gone on to complete two Couch to 5k courses with the group and has told us how beneficial the group has been. She said : "each of us that are part of the Earlswood Running Club Family (yes it's like an extended family) have our own stories and journeys for why we are running and it's Kate who we have to thank for motivating us, challenging us and encouraging us".

If you think you deserve to win in June, email: support@runtogether.co.uk

Don't forget our top tips on what can make your nomination stand out can be found HERE.

Also from next month, we have exclusive prizes to give away, courtesy of DW Fitness First. So what are you waiting for? Get nominating!
