Essential Summer Running Kit

When England’s best athletes tell you that kit can make all the difference, and as the weather is finally confirming to us that summer is well on its way, we think it’s the perfect time to remind you what a difference choosing the right gear for your run can make.

Charlie Grice, one of the world’s best young distance runners and the current British champion, summarises it perfectly: “Wearing the right kit can make a big difference when it comes to feeling comfortable and performing optimally in the summer."

#RunAndTalk is back!

Our #RunAndTalk campaign, supported by Mind – the mental health charity, aims to improve mental wellbeing through running whilst also breaking down the stigma associated with mental health by getting people talking.  We will be announcing details of the 2019 campaign, including how to register your organised runs, from next week.  Keep your eyes out for an announcement on our social channels, website and in our August newsletter so you and your runners can get involved!

DW Fitness First - Run Leader of the Month - Kay

Congratulations to Kay, Run Leader of St Cuthberts Champions Group, you are our Run Leader of the month and have been awarded a  pair of trainers courtesy of DW Fitness First.

Nominated by runner, Faye. She said the following;

"Kay has a very busy and stressful job for a local hospice but always makes time to organise the running group on a Wednesday evening. The group includes staff from the hospice, friends of staff, friends of friends, people who stumble across it on the RunTogether website or those who find us on social media. When anyone gets in touch with Kay about joining the group she is friendly and really motivating - many of us in the group were adamant we hated running until she persuaded us otherwise.  The group is inclusive with a range of ages and abilities and no one ever gets left behind. Friendships have grown from the group and some of the group have gone on to do challenges such as Triathlons, Coast to Coast cycle rides for charity, half marathons and races due to confidence in their own abilities growing, improved health and fitness and a new found passion for sport. I think she is a well-deserved Run leader of the month."
