The Run Nottingham project was recently nominated for Participation Project of the Year at the Nottinghamshire Sports Awards.  The Nottinghamshire Sports Awards recognise and celebrate the skills, dedication, determination and commitment of all those involved in sport across the county.

Alex Brown from Nottingham City Council nominated Run Nottingham for the award; "I nominated Run Nottingham for Sporting Project of the Year 2015 because of its successes in attracting new people to running and therefore increasing physical activity levels of Nottingham residents. This was achieved by working in traditional ways such as putting on open to all beginners running groups, as well as having a high number of non-traditional offers including the innovative Light Night Run Challenge, selfie runs, workplace runs, women only runs linking into the Sport England This Girl Can campaign, guide running opportunities and many other offers using city insight to target the right areas and times to put on sessions."

Run Nottingham has worked very closely with Nottingham City Council and has successfully linked into Nottingham City Council participation projects such as ParkLives, FREEsport and Fit in the Community. The increase in people running has been achieved in a sustainable way with more run leaders being trained up and more running routes and running events available for the public to take part in. Since the Run Nottingham project started there has also been an increase in the number of people taking part in the two Nottingham City parkruns.

Alex continued, "The Run Nottingham project has been very successful for the city and I look forward to seeing how it develops further."

Unfortunately Run Nottingham just missed out on receiving the award to Nottingham Rugby in the Community.
