Beginners2Runners 'Race to the Flag'

It's the New Year so Beginners2Runners thought they'd try something new to spice up their club runs!

On Thursday 8th January, Steve Grantham, Founder of Beginners2Runners (B2R) organised a 'Race to the Flag' between 2 of his clubs.  Members of B2R Maidstone and B2R Barming raced each other over a 4km distance from their respective club venues to the centre of Maidstone in an effort to claim the 'B2R Flag' for their Club. The Club with the first 20 members to arrive at the Flag were the winners.

Steve Grantham commented, "I took on the role of Flag Holder at the bottom of Week Street in Maidstone.  I got quite a few strange looks from people passing by but it was well worth it when the first few runners started arriving. I'm not sure what the Maidstone cabbies and town folk thought of 70+ lycra clad people running through the streets but it was a sight not to be missed!"

After a tense wait, B2R Barming pipped B2R Maidstone to the post with a final score of 20-18.  The winners ran back home with the flag whilst B2R Maidstone ran back determined that they will win the flag next month.
