The remarkable journey of a couple from Oxford shows just some of the benefits of participating in the Big Fun Run Events - so if you're looking for some inspiration to get involved, look no further!

At the start of 2013 Stewart McLelland and his fiancé embarked on a weight loss goal. After losing some initial weight and enjoying some improvements in their fitness they then embarked on training for the 5K Big Fun Run in Glasgow. In June of that year they took up running for the first time, barely able to do any distance at all. The Glasgow Big Fun Run was their first ever running event and ended up being the first time either of them had ever won a medal for a sporting event. What's more, the pride and sense of achievement they experienced on the day inspired them to take on other fundraising challenges.

Big Fun Run logoA year later and the couple, now dedicated runners, have lost an incredible 12 stone between them! They have set themselves the challenge of completing 14 events in 2014 to raise money for charity. The events will vary from 2 mile runs through to half marathons, from family friendly runs through to grueling obstacle races! The couple have also planned to visit where it all started and, now living Oxford, they plan on running the Southampton Big Fun Run in 2014 as part of their schedule.

Stewart said: “The Big Fun run changed our lives, without a fun run open to all abilities where the goal is to have fun and not race the clock, we would never have been able to do what we do now!”
