Run England groups are invited to sign up for free to the BBC’s Get Inspired initiative which aims to increase participation by giving publicity, across the BBC, to local sports clubs across the country.

Get Inspired is a great opportunity for registered running groups to promote themselves to a wide audience of people looking to get active. The BBC Sport homepage gets round 2.5 million unique UK browsers a day.

What is Get Inspired?

Get Inspired is all about encouraging people to get active and give sport a try and offers a free platform for you to promote your activities to an extensive audience and promotion across the BBC.

During the London Olympics the BBC’s Things To Do website had over 210,000 unique hits on sports activities from people wanting to find sports taster sessions near them and continued to reach high figures throughout the Paralympics. BBC want the legacy of the Games to continue to inspire people to take up sport and can help by pointing people to your club or taster session

Register as a partner and upload your activities to the BBC Things To Do website to benefit from free publicity

What kind of publicity will my group get?

There are activity finder widgets across the BBC website including the BBC Sport homepage, the Get Inspired homepage and a variety of news and programme pages so there is an enormous potential audience for your activities.

Gabby Logan

At the centre of Get Inspired is a monthly TV show, Inspire: the Olympic Journey, presented by Gabby Logan. Each month Gabby and the team showcase the most inspiring stories in sport, with a focus on British and International sports stars with 700,000 tuning in to each edition. There are also additional films, features and output across TV, radio and online. The BBC will direct audiences to the Get Inspired website, where they will be able to enter their postcode into the Things To Do activity finder and find activities near them.

England Athletics is working with the BBC to help make the process of registered groups and affiliated clubs adding events as smooth as possible. BBC Things To Do carry out checks on event providers, including on whether sports clubs are registered/affiliated, so that they can be included in the Get Inspired listings. England Athletics is working with the BBC to provide them with confirmation that clubs are affiliated and other administrative support to reduce the information and evidencing our groups and clubs need to produce. We trust this will minimise the occasions on which the BBC Things To Do team will have to contact groups and clubs for further information before their events can be added.
