Now is your last chance to buy an international starting number for the the 2014 World Half Marathon World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 29 March 2014.

People living outside Denmark have until Tuesday 29 October at 9am to purchase a starting number for the very popular IAAF/AL-Bank World Half Marathon Championships 2014 in Copenhagen.

From Tuesday morning, the international starting numbers for this huge running festival are no longer reserved for foreign runners living outside Denmark. This means that the next three days are the very last chance for international runners to buy a starting number for the first world half marathon ever combined with a mass race. According to the massive interest at the Danish Facebook Page, the Danish runners will probably buy all the starting numbers, when they get the chance on Tuesday morning.

Therefore, the WHM2014 organisers recommend everybody living outside Denmark to buy their starting number now - Tuesday will probably be too late!

You don’t have to be an elite runner to participate in the IAAF/AL-Bank World Half Marathon Championships. For the first time, this prestigious race is open to the public and you are invited to join 25,000 other recreational runners at the start line.

Copenhagen, the cosmopolitan hub of Scandinavia, is well known for its perfect mix of medieval charm and urban coolness. The race will start and end at the beautiful baroque Christiansborg palace which also houses the Danish parliament. The route will take runners through the medieval city centre and past significant historical sites and along cobblestoned lanes.

“The course is fast, flat and scenic. I assure you – this course is the perfect setting for making personal bests,” said Wilson Kipketer, former three time world champion and world record holder (800m) and the official ambassador of the event. Furthermore, the average temperature in Copenhagen in March is around 9 degrees celsius making it very conducive for a fast time.

The domestic race sold out within two days but runners outside of Denmark still have a chance to take part in this world championship mass race. Five thousand entries have been earmarked for international runners and these can be purchased at the official homepage of the race: english.copenhagen2014.dk.
