New 3-2-1 running route set up in South East London

A new Run England 3-2-1 running route has recently been marked out in South East London with the support of the local council. The route, at Ladywell Fields in Lewisham, consists of a 2k loop in the park, starting and finishing at the cafe, for all abilities to use.

To celebrate this event, several local Run England group leaders took the opportunity to view the route and will now be able to include it within their group sessions, as the fitness levels of their beginners progress.

3-2-1 is Run England’s project which aims to provide a range of marked running or jogging routes across the country that anyone can have a go at.

Local organisers - working in partnership with athletics clubs and Run England groups - can mark routes that are 3, 2 and 1 miles, kilometres or laps – suitable target distances for anyone who wishes to have a go!

Lewisham council are very keen to promote running in the borough, to beginners and more experienced runners, and as well as the marking of this route, they have supported a Leadership in Running Fitness course for volunteers in the borough and a new parkrun at Hilly Fields, which is scheduled to start in September. The England Athletics course produced several keen new group leaders who will be starting groups in the area shortly! A huge ‘good luck’ goes out to them from all at Run England.
