Join Run England for a run in County Durham
02 March 2012
If you're a resident in County Durham, Run England group leaders in the area are calling for everyone to pull on their trainers and give running a go with one of the many running groups in the area.
Working in partnership with the Durham and Darlington PCT Run England is able to offer yet more support to its members via the CPAL programme being delivered in County Durham.
As well as being able to access a wide range of benefits by registering for free to Run England - including a £15 Sweatshop voucher for running shoes - County Durham members can also get a CPAL logbook from the group leader designed to help track both participation levels and improvements in general physical activity as part of the CPAL programme in the County.
Changing the Physical Activity Landscape (CPAL) is a key focus for Durham and Darlington PCT and goes beyond getting someone to attend a session as a one off as the programme identifies “encouraging people to participate is important of course, but we want to go further than that and we will therefore be measuring the success of the project by the number of the target group who sustain an increase in participation 6 months after starting the intervention.”
Granted - getting active and staying active can be a big enough challenge at the best of times and it is hoped that the extra support on offer from Run England and CPAL will help to break that trend but nothing will beat some motivation from your friends so why not get together with a friend and join us for a run in County Durham.
Run England groups in County Durham are springing up at great speed as demand rises with more and more people taking the first steps to becoming a runner.
