Run England Sale members inspired to become trained leaders

Run England Sale has been proving that running with a group is the best way to keep fit, meet new friends and achieve something great.

Group Leader Emma Copson (pictured, third from left) said: "I was always the worst person at any sport. After having had my first baby, I needed to get back in shape. A local club had a beginners' running group and with their support I managed to do something I never thought possible – I actually became a runner!"

Inspired, Emma then went on to complete the Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course and formed Run England Sale to pass on the benefits she had found from her own experiences.

Inspired, Donna Moores and Sepeedaeh Saleh, two members of Run England Sale, have now followed in Emma’s footsteps by completing the LiRF course and are now ready to take on more runners - a great example of what can be achieved together as part of a running group.

Run England Sale caters for all running levels, from those just putting on a pair of trainers for the first time, to those re-tying their laces for the first time after a long break. Groups are led out on various routes starting with walk to run sessions and building up gradually towards 3k to 5k distances and beyond.

Newly-trained leader Donna (pictured, far right) said: "When I first started running I hated the thought of trudging away on a treadmill and anything more than five minutes was a real struggle. However, through the group I have worked up to doing 5Ks and have recently completed my second 10K. It wasn't fast, but I ran all the way without stopping and enjoyed every second of it, I am so glad I found Run England and my group, now I want to give something back and help others."

Run England Sale is a great example of a typical Run England Group where you can find like-minded people to offer support and advice on how to get started on your own running journey, and setting out on that journey could not be easier, take advantage of Run England’s free membership and be part of something great. Join today at www.runengland.org/join and if, like Run England Sale girls, you think you could be an inspiration to others, you can find more information on the LiRF course at www.runengland.org/leader.
