Get running at the beautiful Lyme Park
31 August 2013
The Park offers beautiful gardens and 1,300 acres of moorland and deer park. It was once home to the Legh family and was a great sporting estate in the Edwardian era.
Run England have worked with Sport England, GreaterSport and the National Trust to set up the beginner groups which will help motivate anyone wishing to start running by offering free, friendly structured sessions aimed at complete beginners, all set in stunning surroundings. The first group will be held each Wednesday at 6:30pm until the end of October, and will provide a fun, sociable environment for people wishing to improve their running fitness.
Lyme Park will also be offering a group on Thursday mornings at 9:30am, starting on the 5th September. This group is ideal for busy parents who have no time to themselves when the family are about, but could squeeze in a run during the day when the children are at school.
Or perhaps an early run on Sunday morning at 9am would suit you better? From 22nd September onwards, a Sunday group will also be available to provide some structure and focus for your Couch to 5k campaign!
Whether you’ve run before or fancy something new, come along and give it a go. All groups meet at The Timber Yard Coffee Shop.
Click here for more information on any of the groups or contact Lyme Park directly on 01663 761400.
In addition to the jogging groups, three new 3-2-1 routes have been set up, covering distances of 1.4 miles, 2.1 miles and 3 miles, and taking in the likes of 'Darcy's Lake' - where Mr Darcy met Miss Bennett in the BBC production of 'Pride and Prejudice'.
3-2-1 is Run England's project which aims to provide a range of marked out running or jogging routes across the country that anyone can have a go at. It's a way of providing a meaningful challenge to help more people get running.
Head to runengland.org/routes to view route details or find a 3-2-1 route near you.
