Weekly30 Run Challenge
Still not running enough because of the Government’s Covid-19 social distancing rules limiting our RunTogether group sizes?
Well if so, we have an exciting new opportunity for you by way of a national virtual running competition called The Weekly30 Run Challenge. Fancy pitching your RunTogether group against another RunTogether group and ultimately against the wider sport of Athletics and Running – which is also competing against teams from other sports!
England Athletics and RunTogether have launched the Weekly30 Run Challenge – a free weekly virtual running challenge, starting 20th-21st June, that encourages runners of all levels to compete each weekend whilst also enabling competition between RunTogether groups, England Athletics clubs and other sports.
With group running and mass participation events currently restricted, the Weekly30 Run Challenge gives RunTogether members a perfect incentive to run on a weekly basis whilst also proudly representing your group and our sport. You’ll be competing against an online community of other runners from across the country - the competition will be fierce and the pride of your group and sport is at stake!
From 20th-21st June 2020, you will be challenged to run as far as they can in 30 minutes on Saturday or Sunday each week (following government guidelines while running). Runners simply register free via the dedicated Weekly30 Run Challenge section of the OpenTrack virtual running platform (users only need to sign-up once) – adding details including your group and our sport – running.
Once registered, participants complete their weekly run at any time on a Saturday or Sunday and then upload evidence of their run to OpenTrack. Every runner will see their results added to the scoring tables, with both total distance and average distance contributing to overall league tables showing results for sport versus sport and group verses group.
As well as athletes and runners representing England Athletics (including RunTogether), the other sports organisations supporting the challenge include Badminton England, RFU, RFL, British Rowing, England Netball, Archery GB and British Wrestling – with more set to join. Let the rivalry begin!
So… are you ready to pull on your running shoes and represent your group and your sport? Every runner counts – just register, then spread the word and get ready to rise to the Weekly30 Run Challenge from 20 June!
