Markeaton Park Group Walk Route
Description: Join us for a delightful walk through Markeaton Park, Derby's most visited park. This route is designed to be wheelchair accessible, ensuring everyone can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The park features accessible toilets and café facilities at the Craft Village and Orangery Café, making it convenient for all participants.
Meeting Point: We will meet outside the Derby University Sports Centre and walk over to the park together. Once at the park, we will gather with others at the main entrance.
Route Highlights:
Starting Point: Begin at the main car park, which has ramped access.
Craft Village: Stroll through the Craft Village, where you can explore various craft shops and enjoy a break at the accessible Orangery Café.
Lake and Gardens: Walk around the picturesque lake and formal gardens, taking in the serene views and historic features.
Terrain: The paths throughout Markeaton Park are mostly level and well-maintained, making them suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. The terrain is a mix of paved and gravel paths, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. In wetter weather, waterproof footwear might be beneficial as some areas can become slightly muddy.
